Clinical Supervision
For counsellors and psychotherapists considering working with me as their Supervisor. I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist MBACP (Snr.Accred), I hold a PG Dip in Gestalt Psychotherapy (Gestalt Centre Wales) and a PG Dip in Supervision of Psychotherapy (Relational Change). I am a trained EMDR therapist (Miribilis Institute).
Creating a Safe Supervisory Relationship
I offer a trusting and collaborative supervisory relationship, grounded in an embodied, process-oriented practice that attentively considers both mine and your body processes. I create conditions of therapeutic safety, dedicated to fostering shame resilience within the supervisory relationship. This includes remaining mindful of the many triggers that can arise within the situational context, such as imposter syndrome, working with embodiment, and the potential performative aspects of presenting clients.
Working at Depth
I recognise the importance of exploring parallel processes and co-transference within the supervisory relationship. By focusing on the relational interplay between you and your clients, we aim to illuminate the underlying dynamics at play, fostering deeper understanding and effective interventions.
Creative Supervision Approaches
Creative supervision approaches enable me to support you in navigating complex cases while nurturing your professional growth and development. We might employ various creative techniques, such as role-playing or evoking clients, to bring the client into the supervisory space and explore different strategies and interventions. We can experiment with approaches tailored to your unique supervisory needs, encouraging a flexible and responsive way of working.
Supporting Training and Accreditation
Additionally, should you require it I can support you in your training journey, and accreditation processes, ensuring you are well-prepared and confident in your practice.
Grounded in Gestalt Principles
My supervision practice is grounded in the principles of Gestalt psychotherapy; working phenomenologically, I focus on the present moment, exploring what emerges in our shared experience without preconceived notions. Relationally, I emphasise the connection between us, fostering an environment where mutual trust and understanding can thrive. From a field perspective, I consider the wider context of your experiences, recognising that our interactions are influenced by various factors within your environment, as well as my own.
Professional Background
I am a retired Police Sergeant with nearly 3 decades of experience; specialising in public protection, safeguarding, and the management of officers impacted by trauma (TRiM). I bring a grounded and experienced approach to working with complex and high-risk matters. This background supports my ability to guide you effectively in navigating challenging cases.
Experience as a Supervisor
I worked as a supervisor at Olive Branch Counselling Service in Winchester from 2023-2025; where I facilitated two separate groups accumulating extensive supervisory experience, supporting trainee and qualified therapists in their professional development.
Commitment to Ongoing Growth
I am deeply committed to my personal and professional growth, regularly engaging in extensive CPD including the attending of an annual residential training with the Pacific Gestalt Institute. This dedication allows me to continuously consolidate my training, deepen my awareness, and bring fresh, innovative perspectives into my practice. I also engage in my own personal therapy and participate as a supervisee in a variety of supervision settings, including trauma, body psychotherapy and EMDR. All of which helps me stay grounded and present. This commitment to my own work ensures that I can show up fully for you as a supervisor, offering a space that is not only supportive but also enriched by the latest insights and practices in the field.
Practical Arrangements
I work with individuals and groups; in person from my practice room in a separate building in my home in Dibden Purlieu, Southampton or online over Zoom. Sessions can last for 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 2 hours.
Fees
I offer a reduced rate of £50 per hour to trainees, qualified therapists
£60 for a full hour.
Please note if you are looking for Supervision specifically for your EMDR practice, then I recommend that you seek an accredited EMDR Consultant (which I currently am not).
